We recently took our girls to the movies to see The Man Who Invented Christmas, the focus of which is the transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge, from what is described in the story as a “squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner” to a benevolent, sociable man, to one who “possess(es) an emotional depth [and] a regret for lost opportunities”.
